Project Manager

Position Summary:

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated construction projects to ensure the goals and objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame. Ensures the work specified per the specifications and plans are completed successfully.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews project proposals and plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for project completion, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases
  • Works closely with Purchasing Agents in buying out new projects.
  • Prepares job cost breakdown sheets and schedule of values
  • Attends pre-construction meetings and distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel
  • Schedules and attends turnover meetings
  • Consults with project teams to devise project work plans, duties, responsibilities, and the overall scope of authority
  • Directs, coordinates, and monitors activities being completed by project teams to ensure the overall quality of work
  • Reviews status reports from project teams and modifies schedules and budgets when needed
  • Prepares project reports for supervisor
  • Prepares submittals, submittal status, release and delivery.
  • Reviews and adjusts WIP reports on a monthly basis
  • Reviews labor analysis reports and updates monthly
  • Monitors and reviews equipment and tools on projects.
  • Attends monthly project reviews with the appropriate personnel to ensure proper adjustments are being made to the WIPs and work is being completed smoothly
  • Works closely with Superintendents
  • Attends close out meetings with the appropriate personnel at the conclusion of all projects
  • Assists project teams and other Project Managers with problem resolution
  • Subcontracts specialized areas of work, such as: electrical, structural steel, concrete, insulation, fire protection, demolition, temperature control, etc.
  • Oversee commitments of MBE/WBE purchasing goals and commitments
  • Purchases material and supplies for projects and to ensure proper delivery arrangements
  • Prepares and submits material, tool, equipment requisitions to proper departments.
  • Attends project field meetings
  • Oversees all claims and delays and to ensure proper documentation is being formulated throughout all the duration of all projects
  • Inspects all project work sites to ensure safety and cleanliness
  • Formulates change orders and extra work orders when needed
  • Follow up on change orders in a timely manner for payments.
  • Coordinates and monitors all changes pertaining to the scope of work
  • Prepares and files all purchase orders
  • Prepares all billings, including subcontractors billings ensures prepared in timely manner
  • Reviews and approved all project invoices
  • Secures all permits, fees, licenses, etc.
  • Oversees and coordinates the planning of all fabrications needed for construction projects.
  • Ensures excellent communication between all departments throughout the Tomko facilities
  • Promotes excellent morale throughout all departments and divisions
  • Assists with enforcing all Tomko rules and procedures such as accounting, administrative, safety, etc.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience in the HVAC/plumbing industry required
  • Organizational skills in order to coordinate tasks pertaining to construction projects
  • Ability to oversee projects and employees
  • Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Sufficient knowledge of mathematics including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute and interpret charts and graphs
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize all work assignments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse individuals
  • Ability to enforce and abide by all Tomko rules and procedures
  • Excellent Knowledge of construction plans and specification

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility, but does have interaction with Project Coordinators who assist with project management tasks.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Effort:

Associate Project Manager

Warehouse Laborer

Position Summary:

Completes material requests orders for various construction projects. Loads trucks per geographic area in a safe and efficient manor in order to minimize costs. Responsibilities include but not limited to; storing materials, picking/packing orders, and loading/unloading trucks. Must be able to lift upwards of 15 lbs. and operate a fork lift.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares orders by processing requests; pulling materials; packing boxes; loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Stocks material inventory when items are depleted.
  • Collects delivered merchandise from vendors and suppliers.
  • Maintains inventory controls by performing cycle counts.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards.
  • Assists with internal and external building maintenance.
  • Ensures excellent communication between all departments throughout the warehouse facilities.
  • Promotes excellent morale throughout all departments and divisions.

Mechanic

Position Summary:

The mechanic performs a variety of activities designed to service, repair and maintain W.G. Tomko, Inc. equipment and vehicles. The work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge that denotes expertise in heavy equipment maintenance. Ensures that all work assignments are completed appropriately, safely, and in a timely manner. Performs repairs and maintenance work and inspections at job sites when necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot and repair vehicles, heavy equipment, equipment accessories
  • Performs state inspections, and registrations on vehicles and equipment
  • Assists tool mechanic when necessary
  • Cleans workstation and mechanic shop on a weekly basis
  • Completes misc. projects assigned by the Mechanic Shop Manager
  • Assists with the proper removal of all hazardous materials
  • Ensures all tools are used and treated in a professional manor
  • Ensures excellent communication between all departments throughout the Tomko facilities
  • Promotes excellent morale throughout all departments and divisions

Manager – Design Build Services

The Manager of Design Build Services is ultimately responsible for the sales and marketing, execution and profitable completion of all design build projects for W.G. Tomko. The role of this Manager is to interact with individuals and companies outside WGT as well as the coordination of WGT Project Managers with those outside factors to generate profitable business from design build. The position is responsible for all aspects of those projects from generating leads of potential project bid opportunities to closing out interactions with clients regarding final punch list issues.

The Manager of Design Build Services will assist the Estimating Department for the following: completion of incomplete HVAC and Plumbing Plans and Schedules, providing Value Engineering assistance, develop plans from narratives and background sketches and review and advise on equipment and control selections.

The Manager of Design Build Services will assist the PMs and/or Service Department on resolving issues with Plan and Spec and Service Projects, helping to develop RFIs and reviewing submittals.

The Manager of Design Build Services will participate in Project Interviews and assist in the development of technical proposals.

Experienced 10 years preferably with a mechanical contractor but not required.
